Old roads in Carlsbad Vary spa forests

In the area of noticeable expansion of he Teplá alluvial plains was built in the course of several centuries the Hotel Pupp. The original configuration of rock slopes was significantly changed, a significant portion of their rocky outcrops were broke off for the needs of construction.

The rock massif of the Keglevič Cross is built by coarse-grained granite variety "Jelení skok", belonging to the younger intrusive phase of the Karlovy Vary pluton.

The path leads around the lower lift station up to hill of Výšina přátelství (“Friendship Height”) with the observation tower Diana to the Marianne Chapel, continues through the forest up to the saddle at the chapel of Ecce Homo. In the surroundings coarse-grained porphyritic granite with feldspar phenocrysts up to 50 mm, fine-grained granite apophyses and aplite dykes can be observed. At the crossroads at the chapel of Ecce Homo, notice the stone bench headed by Hungarian poet Janos Aranyi.

The path then continues around the southwestern slope of the Friendship Height to the sacred site Ave Maria and continues to the Rusalka Cottage with beautiful views of the Teplá valley. Another observation cottage is on the way is “Kazatelna”, from it the path leads to the intersection “U Obrazu” (“At Picture”), where it is actually from 1900, located above the altar and modern conceived image of the Virgin Mary. From the Picture can be comfortably reached by the asphalt road the former restaurant St. Linhart and the Town Parts Tuhnice or Doubí.
