The area of Hazlov itself and south of Lipná is built with coarser-grained porphyric biotite granite to granodiorite, which is geologically older. Of the stonemasonry works in Hazlov, the portals of some houses, the memorial to the victims of World War I, the water fountains and baptismal fonts in the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and small monuments in the countryside are worth mentioning.

 Reconciliation crosses are also carved from granite, placed in the Middle Ages where a capital crime or misfortune occurred. Their erection was part of the settlement between the offender and the affected family.Apart from stonemasonry, the textile industry was the main source of income and employment. The first water-wheel-driven cotton mill was founded in Hazlov in 1822 by Jan Adam Biedermann. The Hazlov brewery, founded in 1553 and one of the oldest in the entire region, was also well-known.
