Old roads in Carlsbad Vary spa forests

The Road Richmond - Toscana - Gejzírpark - Březová

Since the 18th century in the area of the Teplá alluvial plain before today sanatorium Richmond are known water thermal springs. In these places, the Karlovy Vary thermal spring zone again intersects the Teplá Valley. With thermal water also springs considerable amount of carbon dioxide gas (CO2). In the late 19th century was sunk near the earlier Spa VI (now an apartment house) a 17 meters deep well, which captured 21 ° C warm mineral water similar to the Hot Spring. The spring was named after the Austrian Archduchess Stephanie. Spring is later discontinued use and fell into oblivion; sump was backfilled. In 1992 there was excavated 151 m deep borehole, which captured the heavily mineralized spring in a temperature over 60 °C. However, the water on their way to the surface cooled and in the fountain is almost cold. This makes the water still present in large quantities of dissolved carbon dioxide and water in a more pleasant taste.

The path continues along the left bank of Teplá around the “Magic Townlet” to the area of Gejzírpark (originally Kaiserpark). The outcrops observed in more or less isolated parts of almost the entire length of the path and the parallel road are built by the granite of the Karlovy Vary Pluton. Predominant is the coarse to medium-grained granite (variety “Jelení skok”), but you can see its contacts with a finely grained variety “Tři Kříže”. The contact between the older and younger intrusive phases is evident in outcrop at the gas station at Gejzírpark.
