The road begins at a crossroads “U Koníčka”, close to the old inn "The City of Lvov," whose interesting building is still preserved. Decreases from the beginning of the Prague Road to the military spa institute "Bellevue", in which garden is preserved old stone cross (about 10 m from the right path). Continued on the slope of a narrow valley and has always been a place called "Kohlloh" (according to pile of charcoal that once stood here) crosses a small water course and continues along the western slopes of Beech Mountain (594 m) around the gazebo "The Black Maria" to the cottage "Above the Valley" to the top of the mountain Vitkův vrch (641 m).
At first, the bedrock is composed of fine-grained granite of the "Three Crosses" type. After about 300 m follows the contact of this rock with coarse grained granite of the so called "Gebirgsgranite" type. In the road cuts and small rocks above the road, coarse grained porphyric granite can be observed. On outcrops are often found tectonic zones of the W-E to WNW-ESE directions.
The Vítkův Hill is built by neovolcanic effusive rocks. In old quarries, which were used as a source of construction materials for building local restaurant and surrounding paths were well recognizable intrusions basaltic lava into the cracks of the coarse grained porphyric granite. Alteration of granite intrusions due to basaltic lava was described in 1884 by G. Laube and in 1902 by J. Knett. The local basalt rock consists mainly of pyroxene, olivine and plagioclase, and smaller contents of quartz, zeolites and opaque minerals.
From the Vítkův Hill is the magnificent view to the east toward the Doupovské hory Mts., whose solitary protrusions can be seen in the form of the Buková Mountain (699 m), Trávník (694 m) and Andělská hora (716 m).
