Doubrava

Spring in the village centre of Doubrava belongs to solitary mineral water springs in the broader area of German spa Bad Elster. Water extracted from a circular walled well is hidden in the hexagonal gazebo in the style of socialist functionalism from 1972. Spring overflow is located 2.3 meters below ground level and due to poor ventilation hazardous carbon dioxide may accumulate here. In April 2009 the spring was ordained by Czech Orthodox Archbishop, Metropolitan Christopher, and on this occasion was renamed "Spring of the Century". In the same year the deteriorating gazebo was reconstructed, newly covered and drain has been cleaned.

The Aš town hall is long-term committed to create a new spa in Doubrava. In 2003 a new borehole verified the source of mineral water. It was named Doubravka. A certificate of natural medicinal sources of mineral water was issued five years later. The grand plans for the construction of new spa facilities, colonnades, promenades and large amphitheatre have not been implemented yet. Nevertheless the place is visited not only by tourists from the nearby town of Bad Elster, but it is also a popular destination of Czech tourists.

Take a trip to Bad Elster in Saxony. In 1795, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited the spa there. Find refreshment in Podhradí and view the 22 m high tower of the castle Neuberg from the 13th century.
